It has been more than a year since the Philippine government declared its first version of lockdown due to the Covid 19 pandemic, what it called then ECQ, or Enhanced Community Quarantine. Since then, the lockdown has undergone so many iterations, depending on the geographic location in the Philippines and progress of Covid 19 infections. ECQ transformed into a lighter version, MECQ, or Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine and finally to GCQ, or General Community Quarantine. Unfortunately, our Generali Main Office is in the National Capital Region which has remained to be the hot spot of the pandemic. The classification of the National Capital Region has been switching back and forth between ECQ and MECQ. Hence, for all intent and purposes, except for a brief period early this year, our office has remained closed to majority of our employees and the transacting public.
Amid this pandemic setting, Generali Philippines continued to operate at almost business as usual level thanks to its dedicated employees and sales force. We issued all employees with laptops and connectivity gadgets. Our digital platform and automated system allowed everybody to work outside of the office, mainly at home. The company consistently attended to the needs of our employees. Regular calls to employees checking on their health were made by our outsourced medical staff. Health kits including face masks and vitamin C were delivered to the residences of our employees. Webinars on mental health and work-life balance were held to help our employees cope up with the challenges of long-term lockdown and fear of the pandemic. Numerous engagement activities were held to maintain the semblance of the usual social activities in the office prior to the pandemic.
In order to protect the health of our employees who really needed to go to our office, we transformed our office to one which is fully compliant with the required health protocol. Body temperature is checked at the office entrance and face masks and/or face shields are provided if needed. Workspaces have been organized to achieve social distancing and regular disinfection of the office premises and furniture has been done.
Finally, we have enlisted our company in a private sector initiative to obtain Covid 19 vaccines for our employees. This will assure our employees and their dependents that they will still get vaccinated should they fail to get the vaccines being distributed by the national government.
Truly in these challenging times, the welfare of our employees remains to be the primary concern and top priority of our company.
